Cyber-Physical System based Machining Technology
According to the definition of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are integrations of computation, networking, and physical processes. Embedded computers and networks monitor and control the physical processes, with feedback loops where physical processes affect computations and vice versa. There are several area namely health care, manufacturing, business etc. experiencing and trying to adapt this concept due to its flexible and efficient capability.
Recently, some research introduced the concept of smart factory or intelligent manufacturing. Machining processes are one of them which is really critical in term of optimizations parameter to achieve product requirements. CPS can be the solution to solve the problem.
So, the future machine will be the capable to measure in process machining performance of the workpiece through various sensors. For example, If we talk about optimization of machining parameters to minimize tool wear but at the same time maintaining required surface roughness.
In current machine are unable to solve the problem. However, this possible with the concept of CPS. Vision system or other physical components(sensors) can be placed in the machine and the real-time data will be transferred to the database and a computer can be used to analyze with the methods like Artificial Intelligent to make decision. Then the computer can send feedback to the machine that it need to change the machining parameters and it will adjust itself.
This technology will lead manufacturing industry to reduce cost of manufacturing, time and will be environment friendly. Efficient manufacturing process will be capable to adapt with any changes of user requirements and in other different environment.
