USB, an acronym for Universal Serial Bus(Universal Serial Bus), is an external Bus standard used to standardize the connection and communication between computers and external devices. It is the interface technology used in PC domain. USB interface supports plug and play and hot plug function.
USB 3.0 - also known as SuperSpeed USB - provides a standard interface for devices connected to a PC or audio/high frequency device. From the keyboard to the high-throughput disk drive, all kinds of devices can use this low-cost interface to run smoothly, plug and play connections, and the user basically doesn't have to pay much attention to it. The new USB 3.0 also offers several enhancements as it maintains compatibility with USB 2.0:
It has greatly improved the transmission bandwidth -- the theory is up to 5Gbps full duplex (the USB2.0 theory is the highest in 480Mbps half duplex)
It has achieved better power management.
It enables the host to provide more power to the device, thus realizing the application of USB-- rechargeable battery, LED lighting and mini fan.
It enables the host to identify devices more quickly.
The new protocol makes data processing more efficient.
USB 3.0 can transmit large capacity files (such as HD movies) at a storage rate limited by the storage device. For example, a USB 3.0 flash drive can transfer 1GB of data to a host in 15 seconds, while USB 2.0 takes 43 seconds.
