Describe one type of secondary devices in detail

The secondary device that I would describe is the switch.

Switching is the collective method of sending information to a corresponding route that meets the requirements, in accordance with the need for the transmission of information at both ends of the communication, using manual or automated methods. Switches can be divided into WAN switches and LAN switches depending on the location of the work. A wide-area switch is a device that performs information exchange functions in a communication system. It is applied at the data link layer. The switch has multiple ports, each with a bridging capability that can connect to a local area network or a high-performance server or workstation. In fact, switches are sometimes called multiport bridges.

In computer network systems, the concept of exchange has improved the shared working model. The HUB hub is a physical layer shared device. The HUB itself cannot identify the MAC address and IP address. When the A host in the same local area network transmits data to the B host, the data packet is broadcast on the HUB-based network. Yes, each terminal determines whether to receive it by verifying the MAC address of the data header. In other words, under this working mode, only one set of data frames can be transmitted on the network at the same time, and if there is a collision, they must be retried. This method is to share network bandwidth. Popularly speaking, ordinary switches do not have management functions. One line can be accessed and other interfaces can be connected to computers.

Today, the switch is more oriented on application requirements. Users are also very concerned about how to effectively guarantee investment income when selecting solutions and products. After the user puts forward the demand, the system integrator or vendor provides the corresponding service for their demand, and then selects the corresponding technology. This is particularly evident in the network. The majority of users, whether they are key industry users or general enterprise users, are more sensible and more robust in applying IT technology. In addition, the widespread application of broadband, the continuous emergence of large-capacity video files, and so on all put new demands on the performance of the hub-switch of network transmission.
