Advantage:1.The devices that store and manage the data are far less expensive and far more reliable if they have to represent  only one of two possible values.

2.Also,electronic signals are far easier to maintain if  they transfer only binary data.

How:It depends on the situation,if you need character ,the bit string stands for character  in ASCII,if you need integer,it stands for the integer in binary format.
