There's just one reason. Computers use physical properties. The decimal system uses human properties that a computer cannot understand. A computer recognizes two states: on/off for memory, magnetized/non-magnetized for hard drive storage. Humans, not wanting to say on/off all the time, simply use the binary nubmer system to represent what the computer is using. Binary is a two digit number system.
