Computer Graphics (CG) is a science that uses mathematical algorithms to convert two-dimensional or three-dimensional graphics into a grid of computer displays. In short, the main research content of computer graphics is to study the relevant principles and algorithms of how to represent graphics in computers and how to use computers to calculate, process and display graphics. The main purpose of computer graphics is to use computers to draw realistic graphics.
1. Application in Manufacturing Industry
CAD technology has been widely used in manufacturing industry, of which machine tools, automobiles, airplanes, ships, spacecraft and other manufacturing industries are the most widely and deeply used. As we all know, the design process of a product has to go through several main stages such as conceptual design, detailed design, structural analysis and optimization, simulation, etc.
At the same time, modern design technology introduces the concept of concurrent engineering into the whole design process, and comprehensively considers the whole life cycle of the product at the design stage. At present, advanced CAD application systems have integrated a series of functions such as design, drawing, analysis, simulation and processing into one system. At present, the commonly used softwares include UG II, I-DEAS, CATIA, PRO/E, Euclid and other CAD application systems, which are mainly run on the graphics workstation platform. CAD application software running on PC platform mainly includes Cimatron, Solidwork, MDT, SolidEdge, etc. Due to various factors, AutoCAD of Autodesk Company currently occupies a considerable market in 2D CAD system.
2. Application in Engineering Design
The application of CAD technology in the engineering field includes the following aspects:
(1) Architectural design, including various CAD application software such as scheme design, three-dimensional modeling, architectural rendering drawing design, plane scenery, architectural structure design, community planning, sunshine analysis, interior decoration, etc.
(2) Structural design, including finite element analysis, structural plane design, frame/bent structure calculation and analysis, high-rise structure analysis, foundation and foundation design, steel structure design and processing, etc.
(3) Equipment design, including water, electricity and heating equipment and pipeline design.
(4) urban planning, urban traffic design, such as urban road, elevated, light rail, subway and other municipal engineering design.
(5) municipal pipeline design, such as tap water, sewage discharge, gas, electricity, heating, communication (including telephone, cable television, data communication, etc.) all kinds of municipal pipeline circuit design.
(6) Traffic engineering design, such as roads, bridges, railways, aviation, airports, ports, docks, etc.
(7) Design of water conservancy projects, such as dams, canals, river and sea projects, etc.
(8) other engineering design and management, such as real estate development and property management, project budget, construction process control and management, tourist attraction design and layout, intelligent building design, etc.
3. Applications in Electrical and Electronic Circuits
CAD technology was first used in the design of circuit schematics and wiring diagrams. At present, CAD technology has been extended to the design of printed circuit boards (wiring and component layout), and has played an important role in the design and manufacture of integrated circuits, large-scale integrated circuits and ultra-large-scale integrated circuits, thus greatly promoting the development of microelectronic technology, computation and technology.
4. Simulation and animation
The application of CAD technology can truly simulate the processing of mechanical parts, the taking-off and landing of aircraft, the entry and exit of ships into and out of ports, the analysis of mechanical damage to objects, the flight training environment, the operational policy system, the reappearance of accident scene and other phenomena. In the cultural and entertainment field, a large number of computer models have been used to simulate lifelike primitive animals, aliens and various scenes that are not found in the real world. The animation, the actual background and the actor's performance have been seamlessly combined, making extraordinary splendor in the film production technology and making exciting blockbusters one by one.
5. Other applications
In addition to the application of CAD technology in the above fields, CAD technology will be used in light industry, textile, household appliances, clothing, shoe making, medical treatment, medicine and even sports.
