UCL FREEDOM OF INFORMATION WEBSITE Freedom of Information Freedom of Information Act 2000 UCL Publication Scheme Purpose and Structure of the Scheme The Freedom of Information Act was passed on 30 November 2000. It created a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities. It also sets out exemptions from that right and places a number of obligations on public authorities. The public's rights to information under the FOI Act came into force on 1 January 2005. In order to comply with the Act, UCL has compiled a Publication Scheme. The purpose of the Scheme is to inform the public what information is readily available from UCL.
