Cornell History: Cornerstone secret revealed May 15, 1873 Ezra Cornell writes a letter to be sealed in Sage Hall’s cornerstone, saying the letter would reveal why the university might fail. For years, many suspected the letter was about coeducation. But during the 1997 Sage Hall renovation, the letter was opened and found to refer to sectarianism. Cornell wrote, “the principle (sic) danger ... to be encountered by the friends of education and by all lovers of true liberty is that which may arise from sectarian strife.”来源(Source From):
