Cornell History: Adams inaugurated November 19, 1885 Charles Kendall Adams is inaugurated Cornell’s second president. As president, he strengthened requirements for admission and degrees, and he encouraged faculty research and publication. He also created a College of Law, increased the student body to 1,537 from 573 and raised tuition to $100 from $75. As a result of conflicts over honorary degrees and control of faculty appointments, Adams was forced to resign in 1892.来源(Source From):
