Cornell History: Adams is fired May 05, 1892 Cornell President Charles K. Adams is fired. Adams was unpopular with students and clashed with trustees and the faculty on issues such as academic appointments and honorary degrees (of which he granted Cornell’s only two). According to Cornell historian Morris Bishop, board of trustees chairman Henry Sage “drove in his buggy to Adams’ house, summoned him from his lunch, informed him in the vestibule that he was deposed from his office, and drove on, having ruined the president’s career and his lunch.”来源(Source From):
