Cornell History: Boat builder hired October 31, 1900 Cornell hires one of the best boat builders in the country to outfit the “Cornell Navy” (rowing team). John Hoyle was poised to contribute to “a considerable and encouraging advance along all the lines connected with the sport of rowing,” the Cornell Alumni News reported. Hoyle made rowing shells, with advice from coach Charles Courtney, in a small shop at the Cayuga Inlet boathouse. Hoyle later took on the coaching duties when Courtney fell ill.来源(Source From):
