Cornell History: First Schoellkopf Field game September 28, 1915 Cornell plays its first football game on Schoellkopf Field, defeating Gettysburg, 13-0. Cornell would finish the season undefeated, marking its first national championship year. The field was named for the family of Jacob F. Schoellkopf, which included Cornell football player Henry Schoellkopf, Class of 1902. The 1915 season was also the first during which a live bear cub served as mascot.
