Cornell History: Tanked May 14, 1926 Cornell receives the gift of a 29-ton World War I tank. The “America” was placed at the south end of Barton Hall. The gift was offered through the efforts of Maj. Louis L. Seaman, Class of 1872, who sought to honor the Cornellians who died in the war. A plaque on the tank read: “The only good Hun is a dead one. Tank, do your duty.” In 1938, the “America” was dismantled and sold for scrap ($10 per ton).来源(Source From):
