Cornell History: Call for athletic reform March 10, 1934 The Cornell Daily Sun petitions for athletic reform, because “recent financial crises have shown the Cornell athletic organization ... to be incapable of providing Cornell students with the athletic and recreational program reasonably adequate for a university of Cornell’s caliber.” Provisions included centralization of athletic control under a director and compulsory purchase of season tickets (a precursor to the student activity fee).
