Cornell History: News radio March 02, 1936 The Cornell Daily Sun teams with the Cornell Radio Guild, formed a year earlier, to begin broadcasting local news stories on WESG. That station was the forerunner of WHCU, which Cornell operated until 1985. The Cornell Radio Guild began operating the FCC-licensed FM station WVBR in 1958.
