Cornell History: Swing time June 03, 1937 More than 3,000 couples dance to the music of Benny Goodman and his orchestra during the annual Spring Day celebration, the Cornell Alumni News reports. At midnight musical compliments were exchanged over the air with Ohio State, which held its Spring Promenade that night. Goodman’s orchestra played the Ohio Marching Song and from Columbus over the airwaves came Cornell music.
