Cornell History: Faculty take a stand against war, Nixon May 06, 1970 The faculty abandon tradition and make two political statements during a special meeting that lasted more than three hours in Bailey Hall. One called on U.S. President Richard Nixon to reverse the invasion of Cambodia and his statements seen as attacks on American universities. The other expressed “horror and anger” at the shooting of students at Kent State and rejected Nixon’s implication that the blame for the deaths was the sole responsibility of those who protested his policies.
