Cornell History: First women's hockey game January 22, 1972 Cornell’s first women’s hockey team plays their first game, losing 14-0 to McMaster University. The second collegiate women’s hockey team in the nation (Brown University was first), the Cornell hockey women played mostly Canadian teams during its first season. The team went on to win the Ivy League championship in 1976, starting a six-year run of championship victories.
