Cornell History: Into the wild June 02, 1975 Cornell conducts Commencement outdoors for the first time in three decades. The 107th Commencement was held at Schoellkopf Field for the first time, instead of Barton Hall, the location since the 1940s. Since moving the ceremony outside, it has never been forced back inside by inclement weather (although many suggested that it should have been in 1992).
