Cornell History: How women got the vote June 06, 2001 Jon ’56 and Virginia Lindseth ’56 give Cornell a major collection of materials documenting the American women’s suffrage movement. Of note among the 500 rare items were ephemeral broadsides and campaign leaflets used to spread support for the cause at political rallies and conventions – documents that typically have a low survival rate. The gift strengthened Cornell’s significant collections on 19th-century American reform movements, such as abolitionism and temperance.
