Cornell History: Life Sciences breaks ground March 11, 2005 Ground is broken for the Life Sciences Technology Building. The building would become the centerpiece of Cornell’s Life Sciences Initiative, a universitywide collaboration aimed at enhancing and supporting life sciences research and education. Richard Meier ’56, B.Arch. ’57, designed the 250,000-square-foot building. The building was renamed Weill Hall in 2007 in recognition of a $50 million gift from Joan and Sanford Weill ’55.
